What’s 1% for the Planet?
1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses, nonprofits and individuals working together for a healthy planet. Member businesses commit to supporting approved environmental nonprofit partners by committing to donate the equivalent of 1% of sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind, and approved advertising contributions. Together, they’ve given more than $175 million back to the environment.
What’s a Public Benefit Corporation?
A public benefit corporation (PBC) is committed legally (not just in theory!) to making a profit and serving a specific societal purpose. Wellwith’s purpose? To accelerate the world’s transition toward plant-based eating and other sustainable actions. ⏩🌱
What’s a B Corp?
Wellwith is not a B Corp—yet! But we’re stoked to work toward the certification and we’ll update this page with our progress…
Big shout-out to Plum Organics*, whose B Corp page does a great job of explaining the difference between public benefit corporations and B Corps. (Plum is both!) Here’s an excerpt from that page:
B Corps use the power of business to drive social and environmental change. B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,700 Certified B Corps from 50 countries and over 130 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.
*Wellwith has no affiliation with Plum Organics.
